11 Seconds - 2D Animation planning

These are concept ideas that I had for when I was starting out my animation, as you can see they are basic, this is because they are going to be made from clay, so I do not want them to be too difficult to make and then manoeuvre.

For this I am going to go with the two characters arguing over the bottle of pop.

This is going to be done in a stopframe technique, where I take multiple images of the characters, moving them slightly each time. When the images are put together in the end and in the correct sequence, the animation should run smoothly. This is going to be long. However, I feel as though, if I can do this correctly, it will be very rewarding.

The reason that I have gone with this story line and type of animation over the others is because, I fell as though I can put more work in to it, and I like the fact that I have to move my animation physically, this to me makes it seem like I would be more involved in the making, rather drawing images, frame by frame.
The reason that I went for this story line is because I think that many people can relate to having there drink stolen, I know that I definitely can. So when making this animation, I will relate character 1 to my own reaction to having my drink stolen.

This is an example of what a clay animation will look like.

Even though my animation will be different, this is just to show the stopmotion technique and compiling images together to get what looks like moving by it self clay.

Knowing my lack with this type of animation, my version will not look as smooth as the one above does. However I shall work at making my animation close to this quality.

The frames for this are going to be few in comparison to the amount that will be complied to make this animation.

This is frame 1, In this frame it is going to start with the camera to character 1's back. The character is going to to point at character 2.

This is frame 1.2 this is a transgression from 1 to 2. In this frame it shows that character one is putting there hand down.

This is frame 2, the camera is now at character 2's back, and we can now see the angry face of character 1.

This is frame 2.2, character 2 is looking over their shoulder while character 2 is scowling at him.

This is frame 3, character 2 has turned away from character 1 and it looking to the side.

This is frame 3.2 and the camera is full focuses on character 2 and the character has their hands up in the air.

This is frame 4, the character then puts their one hand to their head and answers 'Kindness?'

This is frame 5, the camera is now focused on character 1, and as you can see from the frame, character one is not happy.

This is frame 5.2, the number on the frame is wrong. This is character one growing angrier and angrier.

This is frame 6, character 1 is pointing an accusing arm at character 2.

This is frame 7, character 1, while still pointing at character 2 turns towards the character to proclaim that 'He stole it!'.

This is what the animation is about. This is what character 2 had 'stolen'.

These are going to be simplistic character, that is because otherwise I would be looking at too much detail that would have to be changed for each image that is going to be changed. And with the deadline of making two different animations, I do not have the time to be making a truly detailed stopmotion animation, even if that would be ideal.
However they are going to have recognizable facial expressions and also lip movements. The lip movements are going to be one of the most difficult things for me to do, because if I want it to look like the figures are talking, I will have to sink it up really well, and that might be something to struggle with in my animation creation.

This is going to be done in 12 fps, this is because for the time that I have, it would be tedious to make the number of frame rate higher, and it would mean that with more frames, I would have to make the movements from one frame to another just slight, and that would take a lot of time and accuracy, and with what I am doing, I just do not have the time to be making 24 or more frames, just so that the movements of the character look smoother.

This is a link to a web site that is going to help me with the mouth positions and what a mouth looks like when it is saying different words. This is going to be used for both the 2D and the 3D animation.
For the 2D animation, I am going to have to physically manipulate the 2 figure's mouths.
Doing this is going to eat at the time that I have for creating these animations, This is because I want to be able to show a smooth transition from word to word and also from position to position, this is because the smoothness will show to be how well the animation will look when all the images are all compiled together.
