11 Seconds - 3D animation Planning

This is a series of segments from other concepts that I had in mind to do. I wanted to see what the characters would look like, even though they are only basic, and as you can see none of them really stick out to me, so I went with the idea that I liked the most.

The animation that I have gone with in the 3D animation is going to be the man in standing in his newly decorated living room. I have gone with this over the other animation choices because I felt as though I could make the it comical, this is because, more people like comedy, to serious situations. Also I feel as more people could relate to this, and I mean both men and women. Women because some will recognise that they have done that and will find it humorous and men that have been in this situation will find it funny due to experience.

To do this I have had to manipulate the characters face and body into the positions so that the mouth and body looks like it is moving with the sound and that the sound is coming from mouth.
So, I am going to use a default character, this is because of the short time period I have to create this animation. I am going to use a Rig that was already created and has points on it that can be manipulated.
There shall also be a scene within this animation, this is going to be fairly simple due to wanting to make the animation of the character better than scene, and this is because the figure is the main focus of this 11 Second project.
To create the rough idea of my animation I am going to do a rough story board, this is going to start with just 6 simple slides. This is because I shall then add in a number of frames in between these slides, making it fuller. This is so that I can see a clear transition between the different frames.

this animation is going to be done in 30 fps (frames per second) and this means that within each second slot there will be 30 frames, depending on the frames, shows whether it is going to run smoother, the higher the frame rate, the smoother it will be.

In these frames there may be different arrows, this is to show myself the direction of the camera.

Frame 1
This is the first frame that I decided on for my animation. I am going to have the camera quite close to the face, showing the sadness within the characters face.
''This is a close up of the rigs face. I am going to manipulate it so that it it is looking to the side to begin with and then moves it's eyes so that they are facing the camera."
(I think that the sound in the background of this sound clip is rain, I shall try to add this in.)

Frame 2
This far off shot (compared to 1) is to show that he is fed up with what is happening in the situation. I have got this idea from the sound of the character at this point in the sound clip.

Frame 3
This will be a fast zoomed in shot of the rigs face, so show the change in the characters emotion in the sound clip.

Frame 4
With raised arms the character swivels at the hips, as though asking a question about what is going on around him.

Frame 5
The figure then raised one finger, this is to put emphasis on the second mention of 'One Day'.

Frame 6
The figure in this frame stamps his foot. This is to show the emphasis on 'Make a stand'.

I then made a new story board so that I could make in between frames, that will show different transitions in the former frames, and will help me when I come to making my animation, to see what it is that I need to do at each step.

This is 1A - This will go in after frame 1, this is to show what it is that the camera is going to be doing within the animation, as directed by the arrows. This is to show the characters profile. ''One Day''

This is 1-2 - This is a zoomed in frame of a frames that is actually zoomed out - in this frame I just wanted to show the emotion that will be on the figures face. This is because the emotion of the character is important when trying to link them up with sounds and to look as realistic as possible.

This is 3A - In this frame, the camera quickly zooms into the face, this is to show the sudden change in mood.

This is 4A - In this frame the camera pans around the character. This is where the characters arms are raised and will be moving to show his environment.

This is 5A - This is where the characters mouth moves to accommodate the words of ''One Day'' once again, this time the face is going to be more angry, than it was sad in the first frame.

This is 6A - The character in this one is basically going to be standing at attention within the room, this is because, that is usually what people do when they stamp there feet but he is going to look to his right and look sad.

These are all the frames that I am going to do for this animation. This is because I feel as though drawing out all the frames would be pedantic and wasteful in time management. Also if I drew them all out, the main bulk of them would just look like same, since I would be drawing the movements in small increments.

For the creation of this 3D animation, the software that I shall be using is Autodesk Maya, this is because, with being new to this type of work, I am going to use an easy to understand application.
Maya has a function that allows me to do a key frames animation making it easier, rather than a stopmotion what would mean that there would have to be a frame for every sight movement.
Keyframe is that there is a 'key' element in the frame that transitions one, to the other. The software (Maya) will then fill in the in between frames, so that I will not have to. This will save on time and hopefully make it less jittery.
