The influence in Harry Potter and Its Prison, Azkaban (contextual influences)

Contextual Influences in Harry Potter.

For the contextual influence of work I am going to do Azkaban Prison from the Harry Potter franchise.

This is Alcatraz Prison off the shore of San Fransisco.
This is a Prison that is located on an isolated island and supposed to be inescapable. However many have tried but also many have failed. This was a Prison that was built for the worst of the worst, basically the big criminals such as Al Capone and Alvin "creepy" Karpis.
This place had a poor reputation and didn't treat the inmates with any dignity because they were not seen fit to have any right to it.

This is a Picture of Azkaban in the 1930's (featured in the Harry Potter film) and this is based off of a place in Germany called Abakan, which basically sounds like Azkaban. Which historically has been occupied by various groups of exiles. This is also another place that is like Alcatraz as it seems the only function was to keep people of the criminal nature away from those that aren't.

This is Azkaban

This is how the prison is seen in the Harry Potter films and game.
As you can see from this picture there is a similarity between Alcatraz and Azkaban and that is that they are both isolated islands.

Alcatraz and Azkaban also both have a similar function in that they were both created to hold the criminals of the worst sort.

So all in all the architectural structure and positioning of it are both similar to that of the prison Alcatraz.
